With seating for five, four doors, and a slicked back roofline, the 2018 Volkswagen Arteon is poised above the VW Jetta in the Volkswagen lineup, but this performance-inspired sedan breaks with convention in some delightful ways!

Delightful Details—Highlights from the 2018 VW Arteon

  • Not shying away from its sports-car inspiration, the Arteon will offer six turbocharged engine options, the top-most of which comes with standard 4MOTION® all-wheel drive (AWD) for superior traction and performance.
  • A lift-back trunk gives you up to 19.9 cubic-feet of cargo space, and that’s with all the seats in place!
  • Available Volkswagen Digital Cockpit and an available 9.2-inch Discover Pro that utilizes Gesture Control.
  • High-end looks and upscale performance are available without an upscale price tag. The Arteon is expected to be very competitively priced, especially in its entry-level trim.
  • There will be two exclusive equipment lines for those drivers who want a little specialization: the Arteon Elegance and the Arteon R-Line, with the Elegance focused on luxury appointments and the R-Line dedicated to sportiness and performance.

Volkswagen Head Designer Klaus Bischoff says: "The Arteon combines the design elements of a classic sports car with the elegance and space of a fastback. It’s an avant-garde business-class Gran Turismo that speaks to the heart and head alike." —from a March 6, 2017 Volkswagen Press Release

Tobias Sühlmann, responsible for the Arteon's exterior design, further explains: “The athletic lines of the Arteon embody a highly functional overall concept. Form and function find common ground here in a progressive way. Thanks to its long wheelbase, stretched roofline, coupe-style fastback design and large rear hatch, this Gran Turismo provides more space and flexibility than conventional sedans." —from a March 6, 2017 Volkswagen Press Release

While there’s no set date for the U.S. release of the VW Arteon, word on the street holds that we can expect to start seeing the handsome Gran Turismo Arteon in American showrooms sometime late this year or early next year, with the European-spec Arteon slated to go on sale in mid-June in Germany. We can only hope the American release follows shortly!
